This week for NPK I was lucky enough to pry fellow Wake Up Worlder and one of the stars of FAIRLY LEGAL, Baron Vaughn, away from his Oreos (he goes through a box a day at this point) just long enough to perform a scene with me from my very own spec script of Fairly Legal while on Skype. The episode is entitled “A Pelican Wears Briefs” and I’m pretty sure there’s already talk of a WGA award for it.

Anyway, I wrote in a new character (to be played by me when the producers finally wise up and buy the episode), Judge Lawyer is his/my name. Yes, of course he’s a raconteur!  And a friend to the poor! But he’s also not afraid to use his vast wealth for fun once in a while too. To wit, there’s a whale eating contest where Judge teaches Baron’s character, Leonardo (also a Ninja Turtle, I feel I should point out), that it’s ok to laugh in the whale face of adversity. But that’s not all there is to Judge. Noooo…..

He’s also something of a father figure to Leonardo, and he’s also wealthier, happier, has more friends, and the whole scene is more charming than the end of The Accused and Field Of Dreams combined. So there it is. Write to USA today (the network, not USA TODAY the right leaning newspaper) demanding that the executives buy my Judge Lawyer episode and then continue to use the character and in fact give him his own spin off show called “THE LAW WON.”

Oh and one last thing… congratulations Baron Vaughn! Everyone here at DAW and Wake Up World is rooting for you.

Now, seriously, get your agents to start pushing this Judge Lawyer character and let’s get the whale ball rolling!
