I spend waaay too much time on Twitter reading other people’s posts. Usually, I feel less of a human after an hour or so, but the other day, I saw a post about one of my “followers” heading to Gritty’s in my former hometown of Portland, ME.
Guys, Gritty’s was my bar. I knew 99% of the staff and the afternoon regular patrons became my “drinking posse”. My 3pm trips to the bar were a work respite made in heaven. I embraced that bar and wrapped it’s locally-brewed goodness around my liver like colorful sirosis blanket.
Now I’m 6 hours away, living a life in flux before joining my beloved in the big NYC land of fun. I miss my bar. I miss my friends and I miss my mug.
So, thank you, @bexmith for taking these pics of my porcelain drinking machine and for conveying my long-distance “I miss you all” to the best bar staff in America.
You rock. And on fucking Twitter, no less.
Cheers, Gritty’s Christmas Ales and Frenchy Bartenders,
