What Megan Fox Can Do to Make Women Like Her More
There's an interesting column about Megan Fox on Jezebel (which is itself about an article in the New York Times Magazine). In it, the writer ponders the concern Fox's team has about her appeal with women, and offers a few explanations as to why that appeal may be non-existent.
But there's really no mystery here. The plot goes like this:
I also think the notion that women hate her simply because they think of her as a slut — Fox's assertion — is misguided. For example, I do not like Megan Fox and I know exactly 3 things about her: 1) she's attractive, 2) she's famous, 3) she's in a long-term relationship with Brian Austin Green.
Now, I'm of the ilk that there are too many people in this world to like everyone until they give you a reason not to; so instead, I dislike everyone until they give me a reason not to. It's more efficient. Megan Fox hasn't given me a reason to like her; whether she's a slut or not doesn't enter into it. And I'll bet that there are more people who are governed by a similar principle than are willing to admit it.
If finding someone sexually attractive is enough to make you "like" them, then what's confusing about most men liking Megan Fox and most women not liking Megan Fox?
Fox digs her own grave when she addresses this, too. You can't turn a woman around by calling her jealous. And her team's idea of letting people know what a regular gal she is is laughable. Telling me her favorite place to eat is Red Lobster because she likes the cheese rolls isn't exactly the same thing as saying she's giving up acting for a year to join the Peace Corps. You know how you make people value you for more than your looks? Be valuable. Or at least be sympathetic. Megan Fox is neither right now.
To that end, I have a few suggestions that may help give Megan Fox more appeal to women:
But there's really no mystery here. The plot goes like this:
- Women have a tendency to devalue themselves.
- Women have a tendency to dislike other women who don't seem to devalue themselves.
- Megan Fox is a sex symbol.
- Megan Fox uses almost every chance she gets to say women hate her because she's a sex symbol.

- Get a disease and recover, but have it be a withering enough experience that you have to go the character actress route.
- Marry Brian Austin Green. You seem kind of like an idiot for dating the latter-day Corey Haim-esque character from 90210, but if you marry him it will seem like career suicide and, thus, true love.
- Get pregnant, have a C-section, then do a nude photo shoot. Men will be grossed out, but women will say you're brave.
- Find a way to shave Ann Coulter's head on national television.
- Start a victory garden.
- Steal a car and give it to a child with cancer.
- Lose a foot.
- Remake — and star in — Ice Castles. I just think its time has come.
- Get really, super into making jam and talk about it all the time.
- Run for congress, win, propose a healthcare plan that includes abortion rights.

I enjoyed reading this very much. Once again Carol nails funny and right simultaniously.
Just to share, my problem with Megan Fox isn't really Megan Fox, I mean, she's just an actress who will one day be out of fashion, like Leelee Sobieski or Mena Suvari or you know... that chick who was on the cover of Maxim a lot last year. You know the one I mean. Ummm, you know, the one with the eyes? What I, and I think most women dislike is the whole dishonesty of Megan Fox. Like, she's packaged as a sex bomb recalling the pinup girls of the 50's when in fact she is so skeletal that one cannot help but be reminded of one's own imminent death, and that she's a "slut" because... uh, she wears red lipstick? and the whole "I'm a rebel and I say what I want" crap when we ALL KNOW that you couldn't possibly be that way and be a movie star, especially when you're a young woman. Let's be honest, she probably had to have sex with Michael Bay to get that part and cried the whole time. In my estimation, women know that "something ain't right" with Megan Fox, but probably can't out their finger on what, exactly, it is, because introspection is no longer a valued activity. (Tweet tweet!!!)
And they probably do hate her just because she has a glamorous life and is rich and doesn't have to work some boring or demeaning day job and men think she's hot and blah blah blah... conditioning women to hate each other, for WHATEVER reason, sells moisturizer and handbags.
Also our culture runs on hate anyway - it used to be that sex sells, now sex and hate sells. Welcome to Fox News, Lou Dobbs! N'aaa mean?
I just hate capitalism and marketing and packaging and bullshit... it's all so boring. That's my buck and a quarter!
The reason women do not like Megan Fox is not because she is beautiful or anything like that. There are plenty of beautiful actresses in Hollwood that are not widely hated by females.
The reason women do not like Megan Fox is because she is a talentless, ungrateful, arrogant little punk who thinks she can trash everybody who offered her a job or role in her chosen profession and all she has to do is bat her eyes and it is all ok. Her ranting about everybody would mean a lot more if she could actually act - but, she can't. She is nothing but a sassy little mouthpiece who deserves her comeuppance.
