I’m overhearing a young, perky, completely mindless sales woman kill time by chatting up two of the online guys while waiting for their boss to get off the phone:

Hi, what’s your name, I know we’ve met?

James, yes, that’s it.

And you’re the designer, right?

No? Oh, you are, hi. So what do you do, Jason…James?

A little bit of everything…right, right…cool.

Very cool.

[pause]

Very cool.

[long, awkward pause]

I’m just waiting for Joe.

[pause]

But I don’t want to walk back and forth from my desk.

I do that all day, HA!

[even longer, awkward pause...and then this, with a wealth of peppy optimism...]
