March 27, 2006: Drink at Work.com Presents...
at Siberia

Man oh man...what a kick ass night we had for our first show. Terrific audience, great sets by
everyone, lots of drinks and a dazzling closing performance by Project Jenny, Project Jan.
Huge thanks to Maryanne Ventrice who took ALL the photos last night. I think she did a great
job of capturing the majesty and mayhem. Since there are so many pictures, I'm going
to do this in two posts, performance shots and after party.

March 18, 2006: Lonesome Jack at Geno's in Portland, Maine

We visited Corey Pandolph and his hot wife Kristen in Portland, Maine this weekend. In addition to several good breakfasts, beer and cold weather we enjoyed a performance by NY-based bluegrass/Irish/punk band Lonesome Jack.

Ok, fine...one more pic from last night...

I have basically been brow-beaten by everyone who was there last night
for not posting this picture. I'm pretty sure it kicks this page up a notch...
whether that's a move I want to make or not, who knows. I guess I now
have to take bathroom pictures of all the comedians in New York.
FYI: Maryanne, Sean and I tried this three times, and each time Melinda
sent us back to make it look more "realistic." I finally had to lie in the
floor in the hallway outside of the bathroom to make it work. Again I have
to ask, why hasn't the One More Drink Club been thrown out of a bar yet?

March Madness: 20D Rankings as of Today

Recently, Mark Douglas (Giant Tuesday/The Rob and Mark Show) commented to me that
he wanted to see more pictures of himself on this page. He also suggested that both
Crespo and Baldo have gotten more than their fair share of posts. This got me thinking
about what the actual rankings of 20D appearances would be, so I went through this
morning and counted them up. As expected, Sean "I'm Pretty" Crespo came out on top.
However, the rest of the list was a little surprising.
(Note to self: Begin ignoring Giant Tuesday at all cost.)
(Note to self: Are you fucking kidding me, it's the best show in the city.)

Official 20D Rankings as of March 15, 2006:
(I cut the list off at 4 appearances)

1. Sean Crespo, 15
2. Rob Gorden, 12
TIE
3. Mark Douglas, 11
3. Me, 11 (thanks, Maryanne)
5. Andres du Bouchet, 10
TIE
6. Francesco Marciuliano, 8 (this is an impressive showing for someone who hates having his picture taken...well done, baby!)
6. Corey Pandolph, 8 (this is a pathetic showing for someone who loves having his picture taken)
TIE
8. Liam McEneaney, 7
8. Maryanne Ventrice, 7
TIE
10. Craig Baldo, 6
10. Mike Birch, 6
TIE
12. Eric Kirchberger, 5
12. Bryan Olsen, 5
12. Michael Reisman, 5
TIE
15. Vince Averill, 4
15. Shayna Ferm, 4
15. Paul Frick, 4
15. Jon Lang, 4
15. Gabe McKinley, 4
15. John F. O'Donnell, 4
15. Tom Shillue, 4
15. Nick Turner, 4
15. Baron Vaughn, 4

So, Mark, #3...not bad. But clearly Rob Gorden is stealing your thunder. Time to take
him down a peg or two, don't you think?

One other thing is abundantly clear: I have to take more pictures of women.

Headshots!

I didn't take photos last night, so I thought I'd put a new project of mine up.
For some reason, a couple of friends have asked me to take headshots for them.
It's a difficult process. Not only do you have to take a good picture, but you
also have to simultaneously reveal the character of the person AND put them
in their best light. Tall order. Don't know how well I'm doing so far, but I
hope to do more of these.

Ashley Strand, host of Banned to Siberia, an open mic that runs every Tuesday at 7:00pm at Siberia on 40th St./9th Ave (red light over a black door). Ashley is an incredibly charming, intelligent host and he runs a good room. As of yet, this show is not well-attended and, frankly, I don't think enough comedians are taking advantage of it's potential as a workout room. You truly never know what you're going to get here, but it's always memorable to say the least. This show deserves to find an audience (and more performers).
