Happy Third Anniversary to, Well, Us

Three years ago on this exact date we had a dream. And quite frankly, it scared the crap out of us. You see, in this dream we were being chased by a bear and the faster we ran the slower we moved. Then suddenly we wound up in Mr. Penino's AP History class only to realize it was the day of the big test, we hadn't studied all year, all the questions were written in tiny print on a blackboard three miles away and we were completely naked. Then we turned around to find every other student was carrying a much bigger sword than us, we were the only ones who couldn’t fly, a small hammer kept trying to pound a rubber spike into the ground but couldn't break the dirt, a train kept failing to get through a tunnel and a volcano prematurely exploded, causing the lava to flow and flow and flow while somewhere in the distance we heard the banging of a bathroom door and our mothers screaming, "What are you doing in there?!?"

We also had another dream--minus the Freudian imagery so obvious that our cats were laughing at us. And that dream was to launch a full-fledged humor site, featuring both original content and a focus on some of the best new talents in comedy. A lot has changed since that first day when the only visitors to our site were ourselves and one Bob Mangioni. We added comics. We added contributors. We greatly expanded our site to include comedy shows, films, photography and theater productions. We met incredibly gifted, hard-working, exceedingly funny people both online and in the New York comedy scene, many of whom we now consider family. But through it all--through all the changes, the improvements, the new-found sense of community--one thing has remained the exact same since we first went live on September 23, 2003: We have yet to make one fucking dime.

But that's a small price to pay for the sheer joy we get out of doing this. And that's only possible because of you. So we want to take this opportunity to thank you very much for making Drink at Work.com a daily/weekly/every month or so/ "Wait, that site is still up?" part of your life. This site is for you and, frankly, continues to exist because of you. So whether you come here to laugh or to see if Maryanne took a photo of your stand-up act last night, we greatly appreciate your visits, your feedback and your contributions. Thank you!

We'll speak again in another three years.

Have a Mind Numbing Job?

You spend eight or more hours. Over time, it can become mundane. Join our forum, play some games, or read a funny comic. Add a little fun to your boring day.

Vongrats on doing your part to lower office productivity. I think the Department of Labor is beginning to notice.
