Remi Frazier's Million Dollar Destiny
I got a friend request from this guy on myspace which I almost deleted because I thought it was an ad for some kind of pyramid scheme. But I started looking at his page and realized that this is a really freakin' ballsy project this dude is undertaking. In his own words:
Just please, PLEASE don't be a Republican, Remi.
Here's the video of his interview right before embarking on the project:
My name is Remi Frazier. I'm taking $100, a cell phone, a camera, and leaving on a one-way ticket to New York City at midnight. In one month, I will come back to Colorado with a million dollars. What I like most about reading through the posts on his myspace page is the combination of serious business strategizing with this romantic narrative of someone falling in love with New York City. I'm not quite sure what to make of all this; whether when he talks about chasing the American dream he means a sort of mercenary, "the million dollars IS the dream" concept or something more like "have the fucking nerve to do something no one thinks can be done." Nevertheless, it's only Day 4 in the project and I'm really interested to see where this thing goes.
I've never been to New York. I don't have a place to stay. I don't have a network of people in the city; I haven't set anything up in advance. I'll be starting from scratch, building a business and a new social network from Friday, June 16 to Saturday, July 15th.
Just please, PLEASE don't be a Republican, Remi.

did you make him your friend?
Ha...I did. I might be being punk'd...or "douched" as the Giant Tuesday boys call it, but I just like the idea for now.
I went to high school with Remi. I hadn't heard from him in years when he IM'ed me out of the blue a couple of months ago; we caught up and then he mentioned he was about to embark on a new project I'd find interesting.
Sometimes I really wonder what's in the water in Evergreen.
He'll probably do it. Not in the 30 days but it'd make a hell of a book or documentary.
Failing that he could sell the rights to the story to Hollywood and see 30 different rom-coms spring up with the concept in under a year.
I have known Remi for years. I think that he can do it...he's one of the most creative and crazy people i know.
The best way for me to describe Remi, since I have known him since college is to quote Elbert Hubbard,
"To avoid criticism do nothing, say nothing, be nothing."
He takes this to heart and grabs life by the balls and says "whadda ya gonna do for me today life?" In Remi's World Tomorrow is an Assumption. -Zach

And no, he's not a Republican.
I went to school with Remi also. It's a silly idea. Look at the documents he has created -- it's obvious he never took a business 101 class. He's out to prove "the American dream" isn't dead. He's trying to get rich quick and make a spectacle out of himself in the process.
Remi's a sharp guy but absolutely lacking in common sense or a grounding in reality. If he made a documentary that followed his learning about business and struggle to find VC, I might be interested. He's just making a mockery of people that have actually tried hard to get a business off the ground.
He doesn’t really have a clue; he seems to think that this is one big game or something. He had a pretty sheltered childhood, and trust me it shows. Hey Remi, grow up, this is not some game of D&D, this is the real world!
This isn't a business story. Or even a rags-to-riches story. This, my friends, is a PR story. Remi is a brilliant PR strategist, and my guess is that his cool $1 million lies in this type of guerilla bootstrap PR consulting, and not in selling the Mantool. But you know what? I'm willing to bet the Mantool thing takes off as well! Forward movement has amazing power. The naysayers can all go roast marshmallows. Go, Remi, go!

i went to high school with remi as well and not only does he have a big cock... he is already a millionaire and this is just a pr stunt
Remembering how to dream. Remaining focused on a goal...any goal. I truly think that is a problem of my generation...that of the 25-35 year olds. I know more people who are wallowing in their own self pity rather than living life.
Somehow people I know were sold on this idea of go to college, get a degree, and you'll be guaranteed to be making 60k a year and have a fabulous life.
Huh.
Somehow that's not how the story ended. Some how the work part and the conforming part wasn't detailed into the brochure. So, now there are a bunch of people wondering why it is that they are not the VP's of some company and why it is that they are so unhappy. Maybe it's because they are so self absorbed, just like this project.
I too know Remi, and commend him on his adventure. I don't think his project was a *true* project though. He made it sound as if he had nothing...but he did have something...he wasn't randomly trying to see if strangers would help him out. He knew people or people who knew people who live there. How is that starting from nothing? I also never received any request for assistance, and granted I never offered any. But what I did get after I joined his masses was someone on his site spamming everyone I knew with friend requests from some random person they didn't know.
The reason why people have a hard time "making a difference" is because they don't follow through. I'm disappointed that instead of truly trying to make a difference this seems to have just been a quest in greed.
