Ideas That Sounded Great to Me When I Had a 102-Degree Temperature
Midget robots, so if they revolt it will be more humorous than horrifying.
A language immersion course by way of Stockholm Syndrome.
A prequel to Raisinets.
A hammer that, in a pinch, can also tell you what wine to serve with dinner.
Clogs, online diaries about percussive folk dance.
A sitcom about three bears who have no idea how they came to own a house.
Wikipedia, but in a multi-volume book form.

Nerd Craps, with twenty-sided dice
TSR (or at least one of their novel authors, Simon Hawke) actually invented a sort of gambling game that uses all of the various polyhedral dice up to a d20. There were six rounds, starting with just the d4 and adding the next higher-faced die on each round until you were rolling all six (d4, d6, d8, d10, d12, and d20) in the final round. Each round you'd bet on who would have the higher total, and before the final round you'd also bet on who would have the higher grand total.
Cutely, he named the game "Hawke's Gambit".
...
Holy crap, I still know this and didn't have to look up anything (except the author's first name)?
sigh
I think Nerd Craps is a swell idea, and I'm not feverish or high. Make a saving throw against poverty! Daddy needs a new +6 pair of shoes!

Wikipedia beat you to one of those. From
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia
"The German Wikipedia will be printed in its entirety by Directmedia, in 100 volumes of 800 pages each. Publication will begin in October 2006, and finish in 2010."
I think that earlier reports of making Wikipedia static just involved shipping CDs to Africa, or something, thus being much more efficient about making pointless the purported benefits over a real encyclopedia.
A prequel to Raisinets? Wouldn't that be ... raisins?
On a related note, I thought "Nerd Craps" also sounded like a box of candy. Like Mike 'n' Ikes, or Swedish Fish.

Grapets
Clogs: you laugh, but I guarantee that my wife (who's a longtime member of the English country dancing subculture at MIT -- them crazy techies) probably knows somebody who has already had this idea.
A prequel to Rasinets
that made me almost spit out my drink.
thank you.
Actually, I'd love to take a language immersion course by way of Sotckholm Syndrome. I've often felt like a captive when learning foreign languages. It never occured to me that the trick would be to learn to love my captor.
"Nerd Craps"
That actually sounds like fun.
