Now THAT'S an Obituary
From the Chicago Tribune:
Theodore Roosevelt Heller, 88, loving father of Charles (Joann) Heller; dear brother of the late Sonya (the late Jack) Steinberg. Ted was discharged from the U.S. Army during WWII due to service related injuries, and then forced his way back into the Illinois National Guard insisting no one tells him when to serve his country. Graveside services Tuesday 11 a.m. at Waldheim Jewish Cemetery (Ziditshover section), 1700 S. Harlem Ave., Chicago. In lieu of flowers, please send acerbic letters to Republicans.
Thanks to Dan for the heads-up!

Not being an American, I find that level of patriotism quite terrifying.
Well, it's the "In lieu of flowers, please send acerbic letters to Republicans" remark that we find so gratifying.
I want to know more about "late Sonya (the late Jack) Steinberg". Why "late Jack" instead of "formerly Jack"?
I think it means that Jack Steinburg, Sonya's husband, is also dead.
Being from San Francisco, I naturally assumes that Charles was once Joann and Sonya was once Jack...
Thanks for clearing that up. I need to learn more about the style format of obituaries, the part of the paper I don't read, yet.
Mr. Heller was a very cantankerous, crumudgeonly old man, and this was when he was in his 50s. He worked, as I recall, for Jane Byrne's Bureau of Weights and Measures. His father was Samuel Heller, a Cook County judge. His son, Charles, is closest in politics to a libertarian, but always enjoys the limelight. Charles left Chicago for Tucson because of the antigun laws in Illinois. The son has a radio show in Tucson and sells radio spots.
