This confirms that those of us banished to the hinterlands (Detroit in my case) are being punished for indiscretions in our past lives. Do you think they'd FedEx one of those babies to me?
An old flame of mine, from Scotland, deep-fried everything from candy bars to pizza. You can find street vendors in Scotland who sell this stuff. I was astonished by what they had for sale, deep-fried. And I have deep-fried M&Ms, myself. I'm surprised anyone there makes it to 40 years of age!
It's particularly prevalent in Glasgow, which the BBC in 1999 referred to as "The world's heart attack capital".
Glaswegian chippies in Edinburgh (where my wife studied for a year) do sell all this stuff. She tried a deep-fried mars bar (sickly) and a deep-fried jaffa cake (orangy but ultimately sickly). One of my other frieds ate a deep-fried onion (which to me sounds so awful that my tongue is trying to climb out of my mouth to safety at the mere thought of it).
Why are the prices so specific? $3.02/$4.18? Does the tax even it out to round number? Smothies are actaully $5 and deep fried snickers are $3.50? I'm confussed.

Tracey, you need to come to Carolina, baby! State Fair is in a couple of weeks -- deep fried EVERYTHING. [cue Homer Simpson drool effect]
archivalist - SC state fair, by chance?
For the record, this photo was taken at the California State Fair. See...we're not that different after all.
NC State Fair. Personally I like the sweet potato fries and the Viking-sized turkey drumsticks. Utensils? Where you think you at, son?
